20w0d: We are Team...

We had our anatomy scan on Wednesday at 19w5d and we are thrilled that everything looks great with the babies. They measured and evaluated so many things (brain ventricles, heart chambers, kidneys, counted vessels in the umbilical cords, etc). I'm impressed that our babies have all these intricate body parts functioning and that they are big enough to see. They estimated Baby A to be 11oz and Baby B to be 10oz - right on track. The scan took an hour and a half and then the MFM came in and spent about 10 minutes with us. He looked at all the pictures the tech had taken and then did another scan so he could watch their hearts beating himself. He was fine with everything and we don't go back for another 4 weeks, which is the longest they will let a multiple pregnancy go without an MFM appointment. Way to grow, babies!

Oh, and yes, we found out their sexes. We are team purple! Baby A is a boy and Baby B is a girl!! Of course, nothing is 100% certain until they arrive this summer, but I don't think Baby A will be anything but a boy. He's not shy...at all.

The scan was 100% medical and all the pictures the tech took are of specific body parts for evaluation. For some reason, the pics are really fuzzy; it didn't look that way on the screen during the scan. Chris is still sorting through the CD and trying to crisp up some images, so I'll update this post with pics when he finishes that. In the meantime, you just get the bump.

Update 4/7/12: finally, a couple pics of the babies.

Baby A - picture of his spine; you can also see his heart.

Baby A - leg and foot w/ both leg bones clearly visible.

Baby B - Butt up! (Actually, she was butt down [breech], but the position
of the u/s wand caught this angle and it was too cute to pass up.

Baby B says hi with her little hand.
