Meds Arrived Today

The Caremark specialty pharmacy turned out to be very easy to work with. The IVF nurse had extra paperwork to complete for pre-approval, but once that was done everything went very smoothly. They called last Friday to confirm the list of medications, it shipped yesterday, and arrived today. It was shipped overnight in a cooler because the Follistim needs refrigerated. The most amazing, totally surprising part of this whole thing is that my insurance covered A TON of the cost. We paid out of pocket just under $300 for everything. I also picked up the last of the local pharmacy prescriptions today. Here is a tour:

IVF Central - we set up a med/injection table in our room.

Lupron - one tiny tiny half-full vial (it will last for all 20+ injections) & insulin needles.
I start these tomorrow.

Follistim cartridge (in middle) with needles in surrounding packets

Follistim Pen - insert cartridge, attach needle, dial the dose  (yellow tip) and inject.
The cartridges can be used for multiple injections, just need to use a new needle.
Also, it came in this fancy carrying case. 

Menopur - powder in the bottom vials, liquid in the top vials.
Use the Qcaps (far right) to transfer the liquid into the powder vial, dissolve.

hCG trigger
This one is so important that we bring it into the office, they mix it and send us home
with a full syringe and a very specific time to inject it. They will also draw a target circle
(aka bullseye) on me. This is an intramuscular injection and the first one Chris has to give me.

Progesterone in sesame oil and big needles (1.5", 22 gauge).
Ugh. I'm told these leave painful knots. We were given instructions to massage
the injection site for a few minutes followed by a very hot compress.
My butt (or "target area" as the nurse calls it) will be sore.  :-(

More meds! In no particular order: aspirin, prenatal vitamins, Kryptonite,
doxycycline, valium, vicodin, medrol, & folbic.

Hershey kisses. I also raided the Halloween candy for the Starbursts.
Something tells me Chris will end up sneaking most of these. 

Lucy was too cute to pass up. This is where she sat while we unpacked all the meds.
Then she hopped down, got her stuffed mouse, and got back up. She loves that little thing!
And we love her.
