Well.....update

We spoke to the embryologist yesterday afternoon and he said that of the eight retrieved, six were close to being mature. They all had tightly packed cells around the outside which indicated they are not fully mature. He decided to remove this layer of cells and do ICSI.

He called this morning with an update and said that despite the ICSI procedure going well, only two fertilized.

This is way below all of our expectations (ours, Dr. NFB, and the embryologist). All we can do now is hope that the two that fertilized are perfect. We need to distract ourselves today because it is very easy to be frustrated with the fact that in 26 hours we've gone from thinking we have ~11+ to work with down to two. We will focus on the two that are still hanging on. I'd like to leave the house for a while, but I can't stand up straight yet, so there better be some good football on today.

  1. ((HUGS)) I'm sorry you got such disappointing news. Hopefully at least one of those embies snuggle in nice and warm and grows into a little baby for you.
